Citizen Journalism is getting stronger everyday. Mobile Phone Network 3 is in talks with ITN and Sky News for providing feed clips produced by its customers, on to television news bulletins. The editors can choose the clips that interest them and the citizen journalists would be acting as wire reporters. Mobile phone network 3 had earlier launched See Me TV, where users submit thirty second video clips and get paid on per view basis.

With advancement in technology, people have high resolution cameras embedded in their cell phones and anyone can shoot a small movie if one gets to the site of the news. This was proved in last two years when many powerful images were captured by the common man and were later broadcasted on major news channels. The sites of the likes of Now Public and You Tube have become high traffic sites within a short span.

If the deal goes through, Mobile Phone Network 3 will employ Editors to check the clips before they are uploaded. Editorial teams would be responsible for accuracy of the clips.

Though I think that another popular method where citizen themselves select the footage to be displayed, could have been more powerful. Audience could have voted on the clips, and the top clips could have been broadcasted on news bulletin. It would give more power and validity to the citizen media movement.
